This is a picture of Stonehenge in southern England. Some believe that the Celts built this monument, others that a pre-Celtic people built it. According to Arthurian legend, Merlin brought the stones from Ireland to set them up as a monument to the great kings of the past. In any case, it is still an enduring image of ancient Britain.
